Overview
FieldAI was founded in 2023 by CEO Ali Agha, who previously led autonomy projects at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, including DARPA’s Subterranean challenge. President Shayegan Omidshafiei, formerly at Google DeepMind, is also part of the founding team. FieldAI doesn’t build robots. It makes software, which it calls Field Foundation Models, that runs on other companies’ machines, from robot dogs and humanoids to multi-ton trucks, so they can inspect construction sites, mines, pipelines, and utility lines. In August 2025 it announced $405 million raised across two rounds at a $2 billion valuation. Backers include Bezos Expeditions, Khosla Ventures, NVentures, Intel Capital, Emerson Collective, and Temasek.
FieldAI moved its headquarters from Mission Viejo to a 41,000-square-foot office, lab, and warehouse building at 3 Morgan in the Irvine Spectrum. It also has offices in San Francisco, Boston, Tokyo, and Singapore. In Irvine it hires robotics and machine learning researchers, autonomy and perception engineers, and field deployment teams.
